One of the recent things he’s looking at is the readiness of the UK for Net Zero. Our glorious government talks it up like crazy, of course. The rest of us are simply wondering how the hell it’s gonna happen.
In particular, the G. is thinking about the skills that people will need to play their part in the transition to – and the subsequent maintaining of – a net zero economy. The reason is, if so-called ‘green’ skills need to be specially built, then we’d better start pretty soon, with kids in school, apprentices going through higher education, college students (at least, those doing meaningful degrees) and existing workers. And that means educating the educators themselves, otherwise how are they going to know what to teach?
